MicroBioGen is a privately owned Australian company. It was formed in 2001 with the first institutional investors from the US and Europe financing the company in 2006. The focus of the company is 100% on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Our technology is based on a unique platform that enables our scientists to improve S. cerevisiae yeast for applications in a wide range industries. These include areas such as bioethanol, biochemicals, animal nutrition, human foods, foreign protein expression and as a vector for pharmaceutical applications.

S. cerevisiae yeast is responsible for the production of over US$1 trillion in products per year. We see S. cerevisiae as a key organism in future areas of renewable energy, protein production, and maximising food from deserts amongst others.

As our company grows, we expect there will be requirements for even more high-tech equipment and highly qualified and enthusiastic scientists.
